Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

The last couple of days I have been playing with my new Christmas toys.  I got an Icarus drawing board and some oil pastels.    Never used either before and it was definitely fun but challenging.   The Icarus board is basically a heated drawing board.  Half of it stays cool, the other half you can heat up to different temperatures to melt the pencils or crayons to blend better.   Up until now, I have also used Turpenoid which is odorless Turpentine for blending.   This is obviously a better option, but I have a lot to learn.   I have never used oil pastels which I did like but I found them quite challenging.   I am so used to very fine detail and using very sharp pencils, that a thick crayon will definitely take some getting used too.   I did love the vibrancy of them.   You can see my first attempt of using this in "Bella".   The oil pastels were mainly used in the background and the white details.

Well 2013 is going to be an adventure for me.   I am going to focus more getting a portfolio set up and entering Call for Artists.    I have never done anything like that before, besides the group project that I did this last fall.   I am very excited!  I just found out about one that is due January 31.  It doesn't give me much time, but I am going to try my best to see if I can get a picture done that I can enter.  If anything, it will be a great learning experience!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 2013!

Happy Holidays!!!

I just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!

I just added my latest picture, "Chloe", I hope you like her.  She was so much fun to do, she reminded of a my dog that I had growing up.   Well I am pretty positive you will be seeing a lot more pictures on here soon.   I am so excited! I have asked Santa for an Icarus art board for Christmas! I just love learning new techniques and along with that art board I am going to get more creative and try some other media like oil pastels.   I have so many projects lined up to do that I am giddy and can not wait to get started!

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Summer 2012

Hello!

It's been a long time-sorry!   I have been really busy so far this year.  I have been on day shift and concentrating on a different, exciting project that has taken up all of my time and efforts.  But so definitely worth it!   I decided after being heavy majority of my life that I no longer wanted to be that way.  I really wanted to live and enjoy my life, instead of being miserable and too self conscious to even enjoy it.   I am almost to my goal of losing 50lbs, I have only 15 left to go-whoo hoo!  In order to do this I had to put my drawings on the back burner for awhile.   Now that I am starting back on graves this week, I will get back to drawing and I have pictures lined up to do.  So you will be seeing some work posted on here.   I have touched up all of the pictures I have already had on here so hopefully the color and details will be much clearer.

I did add another picture I just finished this week.  It is part of a group picture that I did with my CPSA chapter which I thought was an absolute blast!  So much fun!  We were all given a petal shape outline and you had to create a picture based off of the topic of "Blumen" (flower).    After weeks of searching and taking pictures everywhere, I found a picture of a some pear blossoms that I had taken in a back yard of a house I used to rent a couple of years ago.   Its my understanding that every one's pictures will be matted and framed in the shape of a flower.  I am just so excited over this idea and happy that I get to participate in this.  I have never done anything like it and I hope that I will get to see the final finished product.   I live several of hours away from the group that I am not sure I will, but I really hope so.  I only wish that I was closer so I could learn from everyone.   I can only imagine their contributions will be absolutely amazing!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer!
